Haney Farmers Market an inspiration

The Haney Farmers Market got “shifted” by the Caribbean Festival from its regular spot this weekend to the vast parking lot that is Haney Plaza on Dewdney Trunk Road.  Haney Plaza has never looked so good with all the vendors and people out enjoying the market.  Market Managers Eileen and Paul made a silk purse out of a sow’s ear in this location and many actually commented that they enjoyed the easy access that the site offered.

The Market was inspirational for us.  The fresh berries and fruit from Hansra Farm sent us home to make fruit popsicles – chopped cherries and strawberries, mixed with blueberries and watermelon puree, frozen in popsicle moulds.  They are a perfect treat in our little heat wave.  The second inspiration came from seeing the absolutely perfect, newly harvested garlic bulbs at the Duende Farm tent.
