Short bike trip, Harrison Hot Springs to Agassiz BC, return

It was a short – only 15 km – and sweet bike trip we took yesterday.  We drove out to Harrison Hot Springs, parked in the shade and hopped on our bikes for a quiet, mostly country road ride to Agassiz and back.  Along the way we stopped in at The Back Porch on 6116 Golf Road in Agassiz to take a look at their stoneware pottery studio, hand crafted willow baskets, coffee roasting operation, freshly harvested garlic, vegetables and curious collectibles (ice crusher found!).  Biking through cornfields and grazing critters we continued on to Farmhouse Natural Cheeses on 5634 McCallum Road in Agassiz.  On our first stop at the cheese shop we just ogled the cheeses, yogurts and eggs while we enjoyed a cone of ice cream.  After we finished our bike ride back in Harrison and enjoyed a delightful picnic on the edge of Harrison Lake we went back to the cheese shop with the mini van and loaded up.  Both The Back Porch and Farmhouse Natural Cheeses are part of the Agassiz-Harrison Mills Circle Farm Tour and are participating in tomorrow’s 7th Annual Agassiz Summer Cycle Tour, a self-guided slow cycle food tour in Agassiz and Harrison between 9 and 4.  Fantastic countryside and a very easy outing for those of us still readjusting to the bike saddle.
