Feeling Autumnal at Haney Farmers Market, 20 October 2012

There was a chill in the air today at Haney Farmers Market.  It did not rain, however, so it was an improvement over last week.  The produce continues to amaze me.  What wonderful food we still have growing into late October.  In our little vegetable garden the beans and cucumbers are still trying to grow while the kale and mizuna look downright happy.  We haven’t planted the garlic yet but it is getting closer to being a possibility.  We are also having some autumnal colouring of the trees in the garden which is getting to be nicer to look at from inside (with a fire going in the wood stove).

  1. And there is still more to come! One more market in Memorial Peace Park on 224th in downtown Maple Ridge and then the whole Market moves over to Dewdney Trunk Road and 222nd Street for an indoor/outdoor market with lots of vegetables still coming in! Look for us on November 3 and December 1. From 10 – 2 p.m. On December 1, one of our vendors will have her first crop (if you call this a crop) of 3 – 5 lb free range chickens – we are excited!

    • Looking forward to more markets (especially the “crop of chickens”)!
