More Industrial Agriculture

Here are photos of some of our latest additions to industrial agriculture in Pitt Meadows.  These fields are on the north side of the North Alouette River and have been laser-levelled in the past couple of years to accommodate the creation of industrial cranberry bogs.  Dozens of workers have been planting this past week and a new pump station has been installed on the western portion.  The cranberry plants are a lovely colour in the landscape but it makes me cringe to think how much biocide must have been used on the fields to make room for them.  I am developing quite an interest in organic cranberries as a result…
