Just Enough Tomatoes for a Salad

I will continue to lament our pathetic backyard tomatoes this year but we did manage to pick just enough for a delicious summer salad last night.  With only one or two tomatoes ripe on each plant we enjoyed the fruits of several varieties: Angora Super Sweet, Azoychka, Black Cherry, Black Ethiopian, Costoluto Genovese, Cream Sausage, Indigo Rose, Orlov Yellow Giant and San Francisco Fog.  The contrasts between the yellows, oranges, reds and purple-blacks of the tomatoes, the whiteness of the fresh mozzarella, the green of the basil leaves with olive oil and balsamic vinegar makes for quite a picture:

  1. This is wonderful. And deary I think that you made just the right amount of tomatoes. I love this blog.

  2. I had a poor tomato turnout too. However, this month seems to be better. We finally got some needed rain.
