Laity Pumpkin Patch Opens for Spring Plant Sales 2011

A good sign that Spring has finally arrived: the Laity Pumpkin Patch has begun its plant sales at 21145 – 128th Avenue in Maple Ridge.  With lots of plants – annuals, perennials, herbs, veggie starts, shrubs and trees – they opened on April 21st and plan to be open for the next six to eight weeks, depending on the weather.  They are open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., daily.  The spring plant sales are a great source of plant material that is both of a high quality and a reasonable price.  They do not accept credit or debit cards.

On my last visit I picked up a couple of bags of manure.  I really do not need any more plants but the day before I found some lovely double-flowering Lily of the Valley from Red Barn Plants, a couple Tumbler Tom Tomatoes, and several elegant white double-flowering Impatiens.

An exciting new development at the Laity Pumpkin Patch is that the Fraser Valley Rhododendron Society will be holding its annual plant sale at the Pumpkin Patch on

April 30th, 2011, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Again, I really do not need any more plants but I always manage to find something fascinating at this event.  Their featured plants include rhododendrons, azaleas, vegetables, maples, native plants, rock garden and alpines, as well as garden arts and crafts.  This is one of the best events to find unique and special plant specimens as well as all the basics.
